Spirit Of The Age - Jazz Age Garden Party

" Sezincote!!! What a divine day, just wonderful; and the weather so kind and unexpected. We so enjoyed everything. If I could have added to the itinerary, I would have included a glass of champagne on arrival, a bit more cost but we feel cost was very good for such a splendid event. Looking forward to Westonbirt, a much bigger affair which will no doubt keep you on your toes!"

Welcome To Our Partys
Music helped define the Jazz Age, and it's a key element of our parties.
• Our Jazz Age Garden Party is now becoming an important period music festival, bringing together a heady mix of palm court, big band and novelty act.
• We aim to bring you the best performers in their field. All performers are of the highest technical quality, and, of course, every performer dresses immaculately in period.
• Performances either faithfully reproduce the music of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, or play in a manner which refects the style, verve, energy and mold-breaking inventiveness which characterised music-making in the period.
• If you like great period music, you'll love our parties!

The Jazz Age Garden Party 2008
Our 2008 Garden Party is going
to be a treat for lovers of great music, with top international stars performing. See the stars under stars, truely romantic. The Saturday and Sunday early evening picnic concerts will be open to members of the public, all dressing in period, to enable everyone to enjoy this wonderful event.
SATURDAY 30th August

• The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
The Ukulele Orchestra started as a bit of fun in 1985. The first gig, intended as a one-off, was a sell out, and after one more gig the Orchestra had been on national radio. Since then there have been hundreds of appearances on radio and TV worldwide. There have been sold-out concerts in America, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Ireland and Japan, in venues as diverse as Ronnie Scott's world famous London jazz club, The Royal Festival Hall, Glastonbury Festival, Chicago Chamber Music Festival, The Big Chill, Cropredy, and the Edinburgh Festival.
Sitting shoulder to shoulder in a semi-circle, the Orchestra has rhythm, bass, baritone, tenor, soprano and lead Ukulele players, creating a rich palate of orchestration possibilities and registers
The Ukulele Orchestra is staging a one-off period set just for the Garden Party. A great time is guaranteed: don't miss it!

• The Charleston Chasers
The Charleston Chasers have appeared at International Arts Festivals in Bath, Cheltenham, Edinburgh Leicester, Lichfield, and performed at open-air concerts for English Heritage, The National Trust and many fund raising events. European Festivals have warmly welcomed The Chasers. Two visits to Switzerland, as well as Holland and Denmark have had audiences clamouring for more of The Chasers music. The Chasers recordings are regularly played on BBC Radio 2 courtesy of Desmond Carrington, Russell Davies and David Jacobs.
SUNDAY 31st August

• BLUE HARLEM
A Six peice band with fabulous female singer. Stars of the 2007 Dubai International Film Festival. Get ready to dance.
(Replaces Clare Teal)

• Derek Paravicini
Derek is an extraordinarily talented pianist, despite being blind and having severe learning difficulties. He has played in
venues across the UK, including Ronnie Scott's and the Barbican Halls
in London, in Europe and the U.S. and he has appeared in the news media
across the world. Don't miss an amazing performance by an amazing man.

• The Panama Cafe Orchestra
The Panama Cafe Orchestra emulate the sophistication and 'classical' style Jazz that is so reminiscent of that wonderful Jazz Era of the 20's and 30's which could be heard at such places as the River Room at The Savoy. They have played for the BBC Gardeners' World Roadshow, the Roof Gardens at Derry & Toms in Kensington, inumerable corporate events, private parties, festivals and river cruises.
